16th Century Manor House

Here are a few pics of these old iron works we needed to renovate for the Manor House shutters. If we had the possibility of putting back anything original we felt it absolutely neccessary for this building to keep its character.

The first process was to push all these items into a tub full of nitro mors to loosen and remove the old paint.

Then the excess last bit of old paint we scraped and wire brushed off last bit. We then sanded and degreased the metal with Zinsser degreaser.

We then applied a hammerite Kurust rust treatment to the metal piece as you will see in the photographs. This deoxidises the metal before we then applied 6 layers of direct to rust hammerite white spray paint.
